Ruth E. Young passed away Monday, May 1, 2017 in Lexington Court Care Center surrounded by her family. She was 88.

She was born October 25, 1928 to parents Winfield & Mayme (Clark) Seaburn in Marion, Ohio. After Ruth graduated from Mansfield Senior High School with the class of 1947, she married the love of her life Donald Lee Young in August of 1949. The pair shared 27 years of marriage until he passed in 1976. They are together again.

Ruth worked at Beckley Cardy and Therm-o-disc, where she worked for several years until retiring. She was also a long time member of Resurrection Parish, a member of the Coffee Clutch, and a previous resident of Applewood Place, where she enjoyed the company of her resident family.

An Avid Cleveland Indians fan, Ruth spent many hours cheering on her favorite baseball team. She also enjoyed family gatherings, playing bingo, and dining out. Most particularly eating french toast and strawberry shakes. She will be missed by all who love her.

She is survived by her children Michael (Barb) Young, Annette (Mel) Olson, Thomas (Denise) Young, Bret (Heidi) Young, Lori (John) Bassett, Scott (Bonnie) Young, and Beth Young; grandchildren Candy, Sherry, Kristy, Kelly, Carey, Haley, Mark, Tiffany, Becky, Justin, Wesley, Erik, Emily, Brittany, John, Lindsay, Jacob, Samuel, and Amber; many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and special friend JoAnn Crummey.

In addition to her loving husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and her granddaughters Alexa and Katie; siblings Herbert Seaburn, Marjorie Brady, Robert Seaburn, Richard Donahue and Jane Joyce.

Ruth’s family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, May 5, 2017 in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in Resurrection Parish, 2600 Lexington Avenue, celebrated by the Rev. Father Nelson Beaver. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Park.

  • Ruth such a lovely lady. Always smiling always! Worked with Ruth at Frey. I ask her how you doing Ruth? And she would always say” Fine as frog hair” . I smiled and laughed? I find myself telling people ” I’m fine as frog hair” when they ask me how I’m doing. Always brings a smile and a laugh. And in the back of my mind I always think of Ruth and smile.
