Ruth “Carolyn” Farrand, 88, of Delaware passed away Sunday evening December 15, 2013 at Grady Memorial Hospital.

She was born August 5, 1925 in Columbus to Harry Carlton and Gladys L. (Overfield) Rinker.

She had worked at Borden Chemical Company for 11 years and was a former member and senior region of the Delaware Moose Lodge. She also was a member and former president of the United Grandmother’s Club. She enjoyed bowling and when younger playing bingo.

Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Cheryl (Glen) Hunter and Teresa (Dan) House of Delaware; son, James (Karen) Farrand of Delaware; 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren; sister, Shirley Terry of Delaware; sister-in-law, Ragene Rinker of Delaware; brother-in-law, George Stout of Delaware; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her best friend and devoted husband of 52 years, Stanley R. Farrand in 2003, 2 sons Donald Farrand and Thomas Walker, 2 sisters Barbara Spencer and Nancy Stout, brother Robert Rinker, 2 daughters-in-law, Nancy Farrand and Mary Walker and 2 brothers-in-law, George Terry and Denzel Spencer.

There will be no calling hours and private family graveside services will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Contributions in Carolyn’s memory may be made to the American Lung Association or the Council for Older Adults.
