Ruth C. Neal

Ruth C. Neal, 88, of Galion, died Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at Mill Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Galion.
Born Dec. 13, 1920 in Ostrander, she was the daughter of the late Iverson Mason and Bessie Turner Mason. She was preceded in death after 48 years of marriage on July 25, 1993 by her husband, Charles G. Neal whom she married on June 30, 1947.
Ruth was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Galion, where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years. Most recently she had worked part time for the Galion High School Cafeteria, and the former Deans/Peaks Stores and Carousel Hallmark Gift Shop in Galion. Previously Ruth worked at the former North Electric as an assembler prior to World War II. Once the war began she took a position as a secretary in the Strategic Air Command at Wright Patterson in Dayton. After the war she moved back to Galion where she married and started her family.
Ruth was a wonderful and devoted mother and homemaker raising four children. She will be dearly missed by them. Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Dan Hayes of Bellville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Chuck and Maureen Neal of Galion and Gary and Brenda Neal of Galion; six grandchildren that were the joy of her life, Ryan Neal of Bowling Green, Rachel Andy Roesch of Muncie, Ind., Eric, Amy, Lauren and Reanne Neal all of Galion; one sister-in-law, Betty Mason of Lexington and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Friday and two brothers, Ralph and Jesse Mason.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 21, 2009 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 22, with Rev. Samuel J. Buehrer officiating. Burial will follow Fairview Cemetery.
