Ruth Ann Fisher
March 20, 1913 ‒ February 20, 2008
Ruth Ann Fisher, age 94, passed on peacefully Wednesday February 20, 2008 at her Westerville residence.
Ruth was born on March 20, 1913 in Westerville to the late John and Dott (Washburn) Osborn. She graduated from Westerville High School in 1931, where she met Frank Hardin Fisher. She married Frank, the love of her life, on January 1, 1934 and they enjoyed 74 years of marriage.
Ruth was a homemaker and a farmers wife and in addition to taking care of the endless chores of a farmer’s wife she ran her own successful catering business including intricate and delicious wedding cakes. She could also whip up the wedding gown and bridesmaid dresses when called upon. Her patience, kindness and generosity is known to many, she was also more than happy to share her many special gifts and talents with friends and family alike. Many of her family members have stood at Grandma Ruth’s side in her warm, inviting kitchen and listened to her encouragement while stirring, sifting or rolling and spilling flour on the floor. No matter what mess or success was made, she was forever excited and bursting with pride about the many less than perfect results.
She and Frank also enjoyed a winter home in Bradenton, Florida during their retirement. As a lifelong resident of Westerville, Ruth had been an active and proud participant in 4-H, Girl Scout, Eastern Star, Farm Bureau, Grange, King’s Daughters, Needle Club and Ladies Aid. The legacy Ruth bequeathed to everyone she touched is her love of giving and doing for others. Her true and genuine concern for every single person around her has been a precious gift. A good faithful Christian woman, Ruth was such a blessing to so very many.
Ruth is survived by her devoted husband: Frank and the children this loving union produced: Doris Ann (Clay) Rammelsberg, Donald Frank (Martha) Fisher, Richard Hugh (Martha) Fisher, Patricia Annette (Larry) Clark, Kathy Jean (Cliff) Petty. 18 adoring grandchildren, and blessed with 41 great grandchildren, and an impressive 7 great-great grandchildren. If all of the family gathered around a table you would need seating for 100.
Preceded by brothers: Frank, John and Richard Osborn; sisters: Ruby Turnbull, Virginia Belle Corbitt.
