Sunbury, Ohio

With broken hearts we share the passing of Russell G. “Russ” Fry, age 86 of Sunbury on Sunday, October 6, 2019 at Kobacker House in Columbus, with his beloved wife by his side.

He was born on November 22, 1932 in Leonardsburg, Ohio to the late Taylor Fry and Wanda (Price) Howard. A graduate of the Big Walnut High School in 1952, he married his school sweetheart; Christine (Ross) and together they shared 69 wonderful years through thick and thin.

Russ was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. For almost 40 years he worked as the cold room operator at the former Nestle’s plant in Sunbury. After retirement he worked part-time as a driver for NAPA Auto Parts.

A true horseman, he was a fan of harness racing, The Brown Jug, Scioto Downs, and countless County fairs. He was most proud of his winner “Easy Guy”, his 1200 pound baby. Ornery to his core, his personality spoke for him, along with his mischievous grin. A member of Vans Valley Church, he was fun loving, and the life of the party.

One who never met a stranger, he and his wife enjoyed the comradery with friends at Wendy’s, PJ’s, and Longbranch Pizza. He was at his best when in the company of his treasured family, his wife perhaps expressed it best, “We lived for one another, his family was his life”.

In addition to this beloved wife Christine, he is survived by sons: Mike (Vicki) and Barry (Sherri)Fry both of Sunbury, grandchildren: Lindsay (John), Brett, Lauren, Ryan, Devin, Leigh Ann (Chris), Brooke, 5 great-grandchildren, brother Terry (Sara) Fry of Galena, several nieces and nephews, as well as a host of friends.
