Rush Collins, age 78 of Delaware died unexpectedly Thursday evening in the Emergency Room of Grady Memorial Hospital in Delaware.
He was born on Aug. 6, 1926 in Puritan Mines, WV to the late Bill A. and Iva (Booth) Collins. He moved his family to Delaware in 1963 from Lanora, WV. Rush had been a coal miner and section worker for the N & W Railroad in West Virginia and worked for JG Casting and The Flexible Corp. in Delaware. He and his wife Margaret ran a furniture store on the corner of Lake St. and Central Ave. and on London Rd, for the past 13 years he assisted her operate the All Purpose Storage and Flee Market on SR 36, Delaware.
Rush was a 15 year member and usher of the Lake St. Church of God, he cherished his church, watching old Western’s, collected knifes, and dearly loved his family.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years: Margaret (Tipton), Daughters: Wanda Collins of Delaware, Bonnie (Burnis) Evans of Ashley, Sons: John of Richwood, Virgil (Jeanette) of Columbus, Donald (Norma) of Tiffin, William (Jill) of Cardington, Kenneth (Pam) of Delaware, and Robert, a grandson he adopted and raised of Delaware, 23 Grandchildren, 28 Great-grandchildren, Special Son-in-law: Dan Wilson of Delaware, nieces, nephews, Brother-in-laws: Jack and Roy (Ellodean) of Mogadore, OH, many loved friends he call his family, and his brothers and sisters of the church.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife of 25 years; Velvet, 4 brothers, 5 sisters, 5 infant sons, one great-grandchild, and a special son: James Edward Todd, who died in 1993.
Friends may call Monday from 3-8 p.m. at the Lake St. Church of God, 185 Lake St., Delaware, where services will be held Tuesday 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Daniel Maurer officiating. Interment will follow in Marlborough Cemetery. Services have been entrusted to the care of DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home in Delaware.
