Ruby J. Johnson, age 93, passed away Tuesday morning at the Delaware Court Nursing Home. She was born April 2, 1918 in Johnson Co., Kentucky to George and Virginia (Murphy) Caudill. Ruby lived most of her life in the Kilbourne community and was retired from the Nestle Corporation in Sunbury. She was a long time member of the East Side Mission Church, enjoyed writing poetry, and gave up her membership in the poetry club when she was no longer able to drive. Ruby had a strong constitution and even up to the end, she took a great deal of pride in her appearance. She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Garber of Ostrander; a son James E. Caudill of Delaware; a grandson Matthew (Brenda) Garber of Ostrander; 3 great-grandchildren Alexsandra, Brienna, and Zachary Garber; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband John, a son Fredrick, grandson James Garber III, her 3 brothers Weldon, Harold, and Herchel Caudill, and her sister Mildred Trimble. Funeral services will be Friday at 11:30 AM in the Eastside Mission Church, where the family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until service time. Interment will follow at Greenmound Cemetery. It is suggested that contributions be made to the Eastside Mission Church Building Fund, Save The Children Fund, or The American Red Cross. Envelopes will be available at the church.
