Ruby Anne Helton

Ruby Anne Helton, age 90, of Sunbury, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 27, 2018, passing at home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on January 22, 1928 in Hebron, OH to the late James and Georgia (Rosenbaum) Hubbard . She was a charter member of the Sunbury Nazarene Church and was a member for nearly 75 years and served as their Treasurer for many years.

Ruby loved spending time babysitting her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and was a big Cincinnati Reds fan. She enjoyed collecting Reds memorabilia, coffee cups, and “hobknob” glassware. Ruby also enjoyed putting puzzles together and working puzzle books, and absolutely loved peanut butter. Raising six children to love the Lord will be remembered as her greatest achievement. Family members remember their mother as always being fair between the siblings, making sure each one was given the same gift value, down to the penny.

Ruby is survived by sons Donald (Ruth) Wymer, Marengo; Charles (Jeanine) Wymer, Galena; daughters Luana (John) Simpson, Columbus; Laura Pennington, Sunbury; brother Carl “Wimpy” (Pat) Hubbard, Marengo and sisters Mary Clark, Delaware and Lola Miller, TN; brother-in-law Floyd (June)Wymer; and sisters-in-law Elizabeth Hubbard and Wanda Wymer; as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband Everett Helton, Ruby was preceded in death by her first husband James Wymer; daughter Nancy Bartley, son Harry Wymer; grandson Ray Wymer; daughter-in-law Peggy Wymer; and sons-in-law Nick Pennington, Keith Brooks, and Steve Bartley, and grandson Ryan Brooks.

Friends may call Wednesday, January 2nd, 2019 from 4-8 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home. SR 3 at 61, Sunbury, where services will be held on Thursday, January 3rd at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jeff  Deel officiating.  Interment will follow in Galena Cemetery.

  • Yes my Aunt Ruby was a great woman spent alot of time there when growing up.Making mud pies and New Year’s banging pans and spoons together.She was the sweetest woman u could meet.She will be missed dearly.R.I.P.Aunt Ruby love always
