Royle D. Montgomery, age 91, of Fredericktown, died Friday April 9, 2004 at the Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon following a brief illness. Royle was born June 22, 1912 in Morris Township, Knox County to Jay Norman Montgomery and Emma (Kramer) Montgomery and had lived his lifetime in Morris Township. He had maintained a farm most of his life and had been employed for 22 years by Producers Livestock in Mount Vernon. Royle had served as a Morris Township Trustee for 40 years.
He was a member of the Berlin United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his children Barbara (Jack) Flood and Janet K. (Nick) Montgomery both of Fredericktown and Robert (Loretta) Montgomery of Howard. Granddaughter Kelly Teter and her daughter Hannah Rose; granddaughter Lisa (Tony) Schwartz and their daughters Tashena, and Ciera, grandson Mike (Beth) Trainer and their daughter Savannah Ruby; granddaughter Mary (Roger) Ash and their daughter Carley; grandson Rob (Kelly) Montgomery and their children Jordan Royle, Mikala, Madisyn and Makenzi; and granddaughter Jennifer Montgomery; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Leona (Smith) Montgomery; his sister Ruby Stackhouse and three brothers Doyle Montgomery, Dwight Montgomery and Virgil Montgomery.
Friends may call at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown on Sunday from 5 to 7 PM and Monday 1 hour before the funeral service at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown.
