Roy Siders Jr., 86, of Ostrander passed away early Wednesday morning, November 8, 2017 at his residence.

He was born December 4, 1930 in Delaware to the late Roy Siders Sr. and Emma (Boggs) Elliott. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War on Heartbreak Ridge.

Roy was a truck driver for over 49 years retiring from Sewell Trucking and he also worked for Stover Industries. He was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church of Delaware, VFW Post #3297 of Delaware, a life member of the American Legion Post #238 of Mechanicsburg and the Trucking Association. He enjoyed traveling, RV’s, playing poker, and spending time with his family, especially his grandkids and great grandkids.

Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Barbara June (Stephen) Taynor of Ostrander; 4 grandchildren, Roy Martin Justice whom he raised like a son, Jeremy Taynor, Matthew Taynor, and Jason Stover; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Ruth) Siders of Delaware; numerous brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws and nieces and nephews; trucking companions, Mack (Margaret) Burns, Bob (Pat) Burns, “Little Luther” Skaggs, and Walt (Jean) Jester.

In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his loving wife of almost 60 years Virginia, son Don Lewis Caldwell, sisters Jeanie (AJ) Carter and Alice (Bill) Dunn.

The family will receive friends on Friday, November 10, 2017 from 5 – 7 pm at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Drive (formerly 1510 W. William Street), Delaware and where funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 10:30 am. Burial will follow in Newhouse Cemetery with military honors provided by the honor guard of the American Legion Post #238 of Mechanicsburg.
