Roy Lee “Butch” Adair

October 31, 1948 ‒ December 29, 2020

Cardington, Ohio

Roy Lee “Butch” Adair, age 72, of Cardington, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday evening, December 29, 2020, at the Morrow County Hospital.

He was born on October 31, 1948, in Delbarton, WV, to the late William C. “Buddy” and Sarah (Murphy) Adair. Roy graduated from Grove City High School with the class of 1967.

For more than 30 years, Roy was a mold maker having retired from Core Molding in Hilliard.

On June 24, 1985, Roy married the love of his life, Nancy J. Kimes in Columbus, OH.

Roy was a simple man who loved to root on the Buckeyes Football team. He, along with many NASCAR fans, mourned the loss of his favorite driver Dale Earnhardt Sr. and was a major collector of his memorabilia. Roy also was a fan of westerns and really enjoyed the Virginians.

His words to family and friends were always kept short and when he did speak it was of his true mind. Roy was ornery and stubborn but yet kind and thoughtful. If you had the chance to visit Roy, he was always hospitable and would offer you a drink while visiting. Most of all, Roy enjoyed time with his family and the memories shared together.

He will be dearly missed by his family which includes his wife, Nancy; children: Sara (Tony) Cain of Delaware, OH, Misty (Phil Ferrin) Adair of Punta Gorda, FL, Chris (Shelly) Adair of Ashville, OH, Bo (Andrea) Adair of West Jefferson, OH, and Carla (Chuck) Tackett of Marysville, OH; grandchildren: Aarronn, Beau, Tommy, Madison, Haven, Chaz, Trinity, Cheyenne, Asher, Logan, Brandi, Amanda, Alexandra, and Chase; 10 great grandchildren; brother Mike Adair of San Diego, CA; a special canine companion, Karma; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents: Buddy and Sarah; brother, Curtis Adair; sister, Sandy Ozbeck; and a great grandchild, Hope.

His family will greet friends from 2 to 4 PM, on Tuesday, January 5, 2020, at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel. (67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead, OH 43338) A service to honor and celebrate his life will follow at 4 PM with Pastor Mike Lape officiating. A live stream of the service will start roughly 5 minutes prior via Snyder Funeral Home Mount Gilead Facebook Page. (

If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society as Roy was a 33 year cancer survivor.
