Roy David Fletcher, age 57 of Heath and formerly of Sunbury passed away early Friday morning at home surrounded by his family following an extended illness.
He was born on November 19, 1952 in Columbus to the late Eugene and Emma Jean (Weaver) Fletcher. Roy spent the majority of his life in the Sunbury area and the past five years in Heath. A was a veteran of the US Army, he worked as a supervisor with Ohio Steel Fabricators, retiring after 30 years. Described as a workaholic, he loved his work and the people he worked with.
Roy enjoyed horse racing at the tracks of Beulah Park and Scioto Downs, as well as the dog races at Wheeling Downs.
Kind and compassionate he is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years: Joyce (Hatfield) and her three children whom he raised and considered his own; sons: Larry King of Newark, Jamie (Any) King of Delaware, and daughter: Debbie (George) Eichhorn of Cardington, 3 grandchildren; Mason King, Devin and Dustin Eichhorn, brother: Robert (Toni) Fletcher of Columbus, and sister: Gloria Miller of Columbus.
Friends may call Monday 5-7 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR’s 3 at 61, Sunbury where services will be held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday and burial will follow with military honors provided by the Delaware County Veterans Association in Sunbury Memorial Park.
