Rowland E. Porter, age 82, of Mount Vernon passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at the Country Court Nursing Home.

He was born on October 29, 1934 in Mount Vernon to the late Clinton and Elma (Kinney) Porter. Rowland owned and operated Rowland Specialty Company.  He was a member of the Amvets Post 95 Mount Vernon, V.F.W. Post 4027, American Legion 65 Coshocton, Army/Navy Garrison 628 Coshocton, Elks Lodge Coshocton, Moose Lodge 824 Mount Vernon, Eagles Lodge 760, Korean War Vets Association and the 25th Infantry Association.  Rowland was a veteran serving in the United States Army during the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife Patricia (Bryan) Porter; two sons, Joseph Porter, Jon Porter; and his sister Kathleen (John) Brown.

In keeping with Rowland’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. The family will observe a private service.
