Rose M. Ragor
May 08, 1917 ‒ May 05, 2008
Rose M. Ragor, age 90, of Sparta, died on Monday evening, May 5, 2008, at the Morrow County Hospital Extended Care Facility.
She was born in Neffs, Ohio, on May 8, 1917, the daughter of the late Alexander and Julia Rusnak Mikus.
In August of 1947, Rose married her loving husband, L. Dean Ragor, who preceded her in death in 1981.
Rose was a member of the St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Zanesville. She and Dean resided in Zanesville until 1963 when they relocated to Sparta because of a change in territory with his fertilizer company. While in Sparta, she attended the Sparta United Methodist Church.
A homemaker, Rose always kept herself busy, and she enjoyed taking pride in having a spotless home by never slacking on her housework. No matter how busy life would be though, she always managed to “get it all done” so she wouldn’t miss out on the fresh coffee and deserts at the restaurants she loved going out to eat at.
Whenever any of her friends and family would visit, Rose made sure they did not leave her table with an empty stomach. She was a wonderful cook, whose specialty was baking pies.
To Rose, her family was everything. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, and often encouraged them to play cards with her, especially euchre.
Every year, Rose would look forward to the Morrow County Fair, as she loved watching the draft horse pull with her many friends.
She will be dearly missed by her four children: Dwight (Cheryl) Ragor, Pamela Sue (Ralph) Passick, both of Fredericktown, Mark (Nita) Ragor of Newark, and Ronald (Amy) Ragor of Mount Gilead; nine grandchildren: Daron, Dean, Desireé, and Dillon Ragor, Bryan Passick, Justin, Breann, Tyler, and Tressa Ragor; four great-grandchildren; two sisters: Dorothy (Leo) Stiers, and Josephine Buckley, both of Zanesville; a brother, Raymond (Sandy) Mikus of Fultonham; a brother-in-law, Russell Ragor of Nashport; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Rose was preceded in death by two sisters: Olga Stine McNeeley and Pauline Morosco.
Her family will greet friends on Wednesday, May 7, from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead, and Thursday from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Hillis Hardwick Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, at the St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 925 E Main St., Zanesville, with Father Leo Connolly as celebrant. Burial will follow in Zanesville Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Morrow County Extended Care Facility, Activity Fund, 651 W. Marion Rd., Mt. Gilead, Ohio 43338.
