Rose J. Pfeil

December 16, 1920 ‒ April 20, 2017

Mansfield, Ohio

MANSFIELD:  Like a butterfly flutters from flower to bush adding beauty and grace, Rose Pfeil touched hearts – taking time for everyone – with her loving personality, spreading kindness, her spiritual gift.

Remembered as a social butterfly, Rose J. Pfeil passed into the Lord’s care Thursday afternoon April 20, 2017 at her home in Primrose Retirement Community. She was 96.

Born December 16, 1920 in Ljubljana Province of Slovenia to Lawrence and Theresa (Dolence) Kozuh, she came to this country at six months old.

Rose worked as a bank teller in both Lakewood and Mansfield, and spent 30 years in Holiday, FL, where she was active golfing, bowling, and volunteered delivering meals-on-wheels with her husband John.

She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, and had created the latch-hook rug Station of the Cross XII “Jesus Dies” for Resurrection Parish.

A consummate grandmother, Rose adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her children Dr. Lawrence (Judi) Pfeil of Winter Haven, FL, Elaine Pfeil of North Olmsted, Mary Ellen (Thomas) McGloin of Westlake, Kathleen (Robert) Grove of Mansfield, Cynthia Timmer of Mansfield; grandchildren Lawrence Pfeil Jr., Linda (Michael) Millhouse, Amy (Dan) Studer, Lindsey Grove, Brittany (Seth) Siringer and Trenton Timmer; seven great grandchildren; a sister Mary Kekic of Columbus; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years John H. Pfeil on July 30, 2012; a great grandson; and a brother Frank Kozuh.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 11 a.m. in St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Father Jeremy Miller will officiate. Burial will follow in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Friends may call at the church the hour prior to Mass. The Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home is handling funeral arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to St. Peter’s Catholic Church or OhioHealth Hospice.
