Rosalyn Marie Carpenter, age 68, of Columbus Road, Mount Vernon, passed away on Tuesday October 30, 2007 at the home of her daughter. She was born on July 11, 1939 in Chesterville, Ohio to the late George and Rosetta (Keyes) Brake. Rose worked many years as a volunteer for the Fredericktown EMT and she also served as a clerk at the Duke & Duchess shop in Mount Vernon. She was a member of the Eagles Women Auxiliary and had served as a past District President of the Ohio Child Conservation League. Although she was active with many different functions in the community, most important to Rose was spending quality time with her children, grandchildren and friends.

She is survived by three daughters, Jan Barber of Arlington, Texas, Melanie (Mike) O’Hara of Mount Vernon, Denise (David) Durst of Mount Gilead, eight grandchildren, Jessica and William Barber, Aaron, Matthew and Adam O’Hara, Anthony Carpenter, Brandon and Caleb Lotz, a brother, Robert (Beth) Brake of Centerburg, three sisters, Barbara Carpenter of Mansfield, Anita Olsey of Brookville, Florida and Roxanna (Randy) Pierce of Mount Vernon.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Oscar Carpenter Jr.

Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 7 PM at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown where a funeral service will be held on Friday at 1 PM. Pastor Chris Mackie will be officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown.
