Ronald Walter Johnson

Ronald Walter Johnson, 87, of Delaware passed away Sunday evening, April 15, 2018 at Willowbrook at Delaware Run.
He was born October 6, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois to the late John and Sigrid (Swanson) Johnson and later graduated from Schurz High School in Chicago in 1948.
Ronald proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy, retiring after 22 years. He later sold insurance for the Independent Order of Foresters and spent 6 years as a mail carrier for the Powell Post Office.
A member of the Liberty Presbyterian Church, he also enjoyed his membership in the Scandinavian Club, where he was a member of the Folk Dance Group. An avid golfer and great bowler, he won several trophies in both over the years.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 36 years, Norma Jean (Swift); sons, John (Vincile) James of New Concord, Aaron (Gwen) James of Ashley, Owen James of Marengo, and Joel James of Delaware; daughter, Jodie Hatchett of New Jersey; step-daughter, Dawn (Emery) West of Warner Robbins, Georgia; numerous grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by his daughter Darlene Hook and his brother Gary Johnson.
Celebration of life services will be held on Friday, April 27, 2018 at 11:00 am at Liberty Presbyterian Church, 7080 Olentangy River Road, Delaware, Ohio 43015 with Pastor John Hart officiating. A luncheon will follow the service.
