March 19, 1957 ‒ October 20, 2018
Ronald Hubert Riddle, age 61, passed away Saturday, October 20, 2018, in OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital following a very recent cancer diagnosis.
He was born March 19, 1957, in Ypsilanti, Michigan to parents Hubert & Maxine (Slone) Riddle. When Ron was in his twenties, some friends conspired during happy hour to introduce him to a young lady named Denise Spragg. It must have been fate, because not long after the pair was married on June 29, 1985. They moved from Michigan to Ohio in 1991 and together raised their three kids.
Ron was a big sports fan and avid supporter of the OSU Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns and Cavaliers. He also enjoyed watching boxing and the news—especially CNN. In younger years he was very adventurous and outdoorsy and enjoyed the times he went fishing with his dad in Canada.
Ron liked playing horseshoes with his family and going for “country drives” down back roads to take in the scenic route. For twenty years they had a camper in Warsaw and went there almost every weekend. His favorite band was the Rolling Stones but he enjoyed all classic rock. His family and friends will miss his sarcastic sense of humor. Above all, Ron cherished spending time with his family and his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years Denise Riddle of Mansfield, Ohio; daughter and son-in-law Amy & Jimmy Leavitt of Heath, Ohio; son Ronnie Riddle, II of St. Clairsville, Ohio; son and daughter-in-law Josh & Sydney Riddle of Mansfield, Ohio; honorary son Mike Lyons; grandchildren Kyler Leavitt, Breana Herda, Avery Herda, Noah Herda, Keagan Riddle, Liam Riddle, Leonard Riddle, and Wyatt Riddle; great-grandson Brantley Browning; sisters and brothers-in-law Teresa & Dillard Roark and Janet & Larry Leonard; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
In addition to his parents Hubert & Maxine Riddle, Ron was preceded in death by a sister Patti Riddle.
