Ronald R. Garver, age 63, of Fredericktown, Ohio went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 9, 1952 in Mansfield, Ohio the son of Rudy and Ethel (Squires) Garver. Ron was a 1972 graduate of Fredericktown High School. He owned and operated Garver Construction Company in Fredericktown, Ohio and retired in 2004 after 30 years of employment with General Motors in Mansfield, Ohio. Most people knew, Ron was never shy of a good day of work.

Although he was a carpenter by trade, Ron was well known for his green thumb in the caring of his fruit and vegetable gardens. In his earlier years, he enjoyed fishing and coon hunting with friends and was also a big fan of NASCAR racing.

Ron was a member of the American Legion in Bellville and United Auto Workers Local 549 of Ontario.

He is survived by his children, Shelly (Brandon) Dobbins of Columbus, Wesley (Christin) Garver of Bellville and Carrie (Russ) Stewart of New Albany, seven grandchildren, Brandon (Lacey), Cody, Owen, Griffin, Sophia, Colin and Kendyl, two sisters, Marilyn (Dick) Ewers of Fredericktown, Shirley Snyder of Mount Vernon and the mother of his children, Terry Yarman.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday beginning at 11 a.m. Pastor Joe Overholt will be officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Chesterville.

Memorial contributions in Ron’s name may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of Knox Community Hospital, 1330 Coshocton Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050.

  • Don has often talked about his younger days with Ron, driving him to town before Ron got his license and Rudy telling the boys he didn’t care what time they got home, but they were baling hay early the next morning. Don has many fond boyhood memories of Ron and all the Garver family. We will miss visiting with Ron around town.

Ron was always very kind to me growing up. I have some really great memories of hanging out with you guys growing up at your Dad’s place. He was always doing nice things for us, renting us scary movies, ordering pizza for us, etc. I will never forget your Dad, or the memories we had growing up together.
