December 02, 1967 ‒ August 21, 2020

Sunbury, Ohio

Rolland “Ronnie” Orr Edwards Jr., age 52, of Sunbury, devoted husband, father, son, brother and Papaw passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on Friday, August 21, 2020.

Ronnie was born at Riverside Methodist Hospital on December 2nd, 1967, and was a lifelong resident of Sunbury, Ohio. In early 2016, Ronnie was diagnosed with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). During his long and tireless battle, his wife, parents and sister-in-law Robin, dedicated their time to his constant and around-the-clock care.

Ronnie is survived by the love of his life for over 22 years, Maj Anne (Appleton) Edwards; his parents, Rolland O. Edwards and Anna L. (Sparks) Edwards of Sunbury; his sons, Eric (Sarah) Edwards of Centerburg and Eli Edwards of Sunbury; his daughter, Kara Edwards of Sunbury; his grandchildren, Olivia and Haydn Edwards; and his sisters, Debbie (Jon) Jackson of Galena and Karen (Jeff) Minder of Tallahassee, Florida, and many aunts, uncles and cousins that loved him very much. Ronnie was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Othie and Gusta Sparks and his paternal grandparents, Deb and Martha Edwards.

Ronnie owned and operated his own trucking business which was a lifelong dream, but his pride and joy was his family! He and Maj Anne enjoyed attending various sports and school activities. Ronnie’s hobbies included deer and turkey hunting and cheering on his favorite sports teams. In 2014, he was proudly inducted into the “Buckeye Big Buck Club”. When you stopped by the house to visit, you would most likely catch the Columbus Blue Jackets, Cincinnati Bengals, Cincinnati Reds, The Ohio State Buckeyes and NASCAR on his TV. In addition to sports he was a huge music lover. Ronnie had an ear for music and taught himself how to play guitar and piano. All three of his children took on this love. His sons play the guitar and his daughter plays the violin. Some of Ronnie’s favorites included KISS, Tesla, Lita Ford, Warrant, Ratt, Poison, Heart, Prince, Maroon 5 and Bruno Mars, just to name a few.

A visitation will be held from 6-8 pm for friends and family at DeVore- Snyder Funeral Home in Sunbury on Wednesday, August 26, 2020. A funeral service for Ronnie will be held at 1 pm at the funeral home on Thursday, August 27, 2020. Interment will take place following the service at Sunbury Memorial Gardens.
