MANSFIELD: Lifelong Ohio State fan, Roland West, age 92, passed away Monday, August 26, 2013 in Crystal Care Center.

He was born August 19, 1921 in Morrow County the son of Claude & Blanche (Garverick) West. After graduating from Galion HS, Roland served in the US Army during WWII.

In 1947 he married Helen Seyfors who preceded him in death. Roland was employed for 30 years by Mansfield Tire and Rubber from which he retired in 1978.

He is survived by 4 children: Sandy West of Cape Coral, FL, Diane Meadows of Ontario, Brenda (Clifton) French of Mansfield, and Jan Kendall of Cape Coral, FL; 4 grandchildren: Clifford, Christopher, and Chelsea French, and Sara (Mike) Stout; son-in-law Oliver Meadows; 4 great grandchildren Cayden and Caleb French, Elliot Stout and Cailynn Hummel; a brother Wade (Nancy) West of Galion; sister-in-law Margie West; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Roland was preceded in death by stillborn son Ronnie West and siblings Evelyn Callendar, Donald West, his twin Ruby Young, Floyd West, Jess Strait, and Virginia Salvati.

His family will receive friends 12:30-2 p.m. Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where the service will follow at 2 p.m. His daughter Sandy West will officiate and burial with military honors performed by Irvin Hiskey Post #535 American Legion of Bellville will be held in Greenlawn Cemetery in Crestline.
