Roger T. Fletcher, age 80, of Pike Township, Knox County, died Friday March 9, 2007 at the Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon, following an extended illness. Roger was born February 22, 1927 at East Orange, New Jersey and had spent most of his lifetime in the Mount Vernon area. Roger was a graduate of Mount Vernon High School, served with the United States Coast Guard from 1945 to 1947 and then served with the United States Navy, Naval Air Corps from 1949 to 1953. He had worked for Knox County for 33 years, retiring in 1994 as the county dog warden.

Roger was a member of the Gay Street United Methodist Church in Mount Vernon.

Surviving are his wife Shirley (Wolf) Fletcher whom he married December 1, 1965; his son Brett Fletcher of Georgetown, Maine; his stepchildren Denise (Craig) Parker of Wooster, Christa (John) Trimner of Mount Perry, and Doug (Sue) Mill of Newark, 9 step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The family will observe a private service at a later date.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon.
