Formerly of Sunbury, Ohio
Rodney W. “Rod” Sanborn, age 35 of Sparta died Monday, June 19th, 2017 at Mt. Carmel East after suffering an aneurysm on May 29th.
Rod left this world way to young, he was born on December 31, 1981 in Columbus to John and Breena (Knoff) Sanborn of Fredericktown. He was a member of the Highland High School class of 2001.
He was the proud father of his three-year-old son, Lincoln John Sanborn. In addition to his parents he is also survived by his three siblings: sister Amber (Clay) Hilton, brother Shane (Jennifer) Sanborn both all of Sparta, and sister Rhonda (Emerson) Yepez of Hilliard. Rod loved all his nieces and nephews as each were very special to him; Brooklynn, Sierra, Savanna, Brayden, Mila, Jase, and Emma. He is also survived by his grandparents, John L. and Ethel Sanborn of Groveport, Gloria Knoff of Columbus, as well as many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and numerous close friends. Rod also leaves behind his fiancé, Adriane Dudgeon and her two girls, Clarissa, and Madison.
In addition to being a proud father, Rod was full of life and loved to make others smile and laugh. He was truly the life of every party. His nieces and nephews loved his silliness and the pranks he often played on them. Every holiday he ensured the children would receive large bags of Reese’s Cups, silly string, and air horns amongst other items to create a holiday of mass chaos as he chuckled. He worked as a heavy equipment operator with IUOE Local 18 as a pipeliner, alongside his brother Shane. A job which he truly enjoyed and loved those whom he worked with.
A true outdoors man, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as a cold Bud Light. Caring and kind, he will be remembered for his helpful ways and fun-loving spirit, even in the midst of seriousness.
