Rodney E. Saunders, age 59, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. He was born on January 19, 1956 in Mount Vernon, Ohio the son of Gerald and Betty (Hardy) Saunders. Rodney was a 1974 graduate of Mount Vernon High School and worked as an independent painter. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and tinkering with antique cars, but most important to him was the quality time he spent with his family.

He is survived by his father, his wife, Gloria (Burch) Saunders, whom he married on January 19, 1988, a daughter, Brandee Saunders of Newark, a brother, Rick Saunders of Toledo, Ohio and a sister, Karen (John) Peters of Washington Court House.

Rodney was preceded in death by his mother, his step-mother, Jane Saunders and a brother, Neal Saunders.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday beginning at 11 a.m. at the Palmyra Church of Christ, 21184 Zolman Road, Fredericktown, Ohio. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Rodney E. Saunders.
