Roberta I. “Bert” Garey, 79, of Marion died unexpectedly Saturday morning at her home.

She was born on August 10, 1929 in Delaware County the daughter of the late Dean and Marie (Hindman) Bumgarner.

Roberta has been a lifelong resident of the Marion Community and was a 1947 graduate of Harding High School.

On August 17, 1957 she married Robert E. Garey at Emanuel Lutheran Church where she was a member. Just last year they celebrated 50 wonderful years together.

As a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Roberta took great pride in her home and the responsibility that came with it. She cherished her family and their time spent together

In her younger days Roberta had an active social life. She was a member of Women of the Moose and for over thirty years she was a member of the Wednesday night bowling league.

She also had an artistic side and used those talents in crochet and macramé.

Roberta will be missed by her husband Robert and their children Howard Garey of Breman, Ohio and Sheila (Sam) Hundley of Marion, Ohio; 7 grandchildren Walter and Angel Hundley, Scott Hundley, Amanda and Nick Miller, Lisa Garey, and Christopher Garey; and 6 great grandchildren Steven, Christopher, Rose, Chris Jr., Alexis, and Bon.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her siblings Arnold, Glenn, Irwin “Skeeter”, and Pauline.

Friends may call on the family on Tuesday November 4, 2008 from 2-4 & 6-8 at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 East Center Street, Marion. Rev. J. Weston Jones will conduct services there on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery.
