Robert William Huss

October 23, 1942 ‒ August 23, 2017

Mansfield, Ohio

MANSFIELD: Traveling suited Bill Huss so well, at the same time it kept him speechless and a great discoverer. When not moving, his sense of wander and wonder was satisfied through the many books that he cherished.

Bill embarked on his final adventure Wednesday, August 23, 2017 as he passed from this world in Union Hospital in Dover. He was 74.

He was born October 10, 1942 in Mansfield to parents Robert Sherman & Evelyn Bernice (Niswander) Huss. He graduated from Lucas High School with the class of 1960.

It was on June 9, 1961 that Bill married his high school sweetheart, Judie Kay Bell and together they spent 56 wonderful years.

Bill worked many different places including Tappan and Pepsi then driving school buses and eventually working in maintenance for Lucas Local Schools before retiring.

In spare time, he took pleasure in many things including carving things by hand, camping, hiking and just simply being outdoors. During his time in Florida he even picked up fishing. His favorite spot was going to Hickory Lake to fish for bass. But above all, Bill cherished time with his family and “the boys”. Being an unselfish, fun loving and joking husband, father and grandfather will be Bill’s legacy.

He is survived by his loving wife Judie Huss of Mansfield; daughter Kelly (Al) Danas; grandchildren Kortney, Nik and Grace Danas; great-granddaughter Olivia; sister Nancy (Ken) Keller. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his daughter Carrie Diener.

The Huss family will receive friends Monday, August 28, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers contributions in Bill’s memory to the Sierra Club or the Richland County Humane Society may be made at the funeral home.

Snyder Funeral Homes is honored to serve Bill’s family and encourage you to share a fond memory or message of condolence to them –or to watch his tribute video– at SnyderFuneralHomes.com

  • So sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Huss. As he was one of my very first school bus driver drivers at Lucas schools on the 1960’s. Prayers to the Huss family. Hobart, Leo, Arthur Prince, Lucas.
