Robert William “Bob” Earick

Robert W. “Bob” Earick, age 88, of Millsboro West Road, Mansfield, died Thursday morning July 5, 2001 in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital following a long illness. He was born August 16, 1912 near Johnsville to Riley and Amanda Mulberg Earick, and had lived in the Mansfield area all of his life. Following 41 years of service, Mr. Earick retired in 1978 from White Westinghouse, where he worked as a supervisor in quality control. He had also acted as a local buyer of furs, supplying the garment industry. He was a member of First Church of God, Mansfield, where he had served the congregation as trustee, usher, as well as serving on various committees. Robert served on the Springfield Township Zoning Board for 42 years. He was active with the Neighborhood Watch program, and volunteered for the Richland County Sheriff’s Department. An avid fisherman, Bob loved the outdoors. A genuine “people person”, he was a noted local historian and gifted historical storyteller. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Helen & W. Frank Hoover of Mansfield; a son and daughter-in-law Robert P. & Sandra Earick of Bellefontaine; four grandchildren Brian Earick of Newark, Clark Earick of Euclid, Weston Earick of Bellfontaine and Teresa Kim Herndon of Galion; three great grandchildren Nicole Herndon, Colin Herndon and Blake Earick; a brother Paul Earick of Ashland; and two sisters Mabel Hartman of Mansfield and Hazel Bush of Norwalk. His wife Ruth Ivale Marshman Earick preceded him in death on April 10, 1985. Friends may call Sunday July 8, 2001 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Monday at 11 am in First Church of God, 1756 Park Avenue West. Pastor Larry Collins will officiate. Burial will follow in Iberia Cemetery. Memorial contributions to the Earick Memorial Fund may be made at the funeral home.
