Robert W. Zack, Sr.
March 24, 1958 ‒ September 25, 2010
GALION ~ Described as a fun-loving person, Robert Zack never let anything get him down. Whether it was a fishing trip with few catches, or a camping expedition that was rained-out, Robert remained optimistic.
A Mansfield resident most of his life, the positive and upbeat Robert, passed away Saturday afternoon September 25, 2010 in Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. He was 52.
Born March 24, 1958 in Cleveland to Anthony and Barbara (Whelpley) Zack, he was graduated from Cleveland West Tech High School.
Robert always enjoyed working with his hands – producing fine woodworking pieces. Area contractors and do-it-yourselfers will remember Robert as the shop foreman for Wickes Lumber.
He was a former member of Mansfield Owls Club and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, but life truly revolved around his sons and their families: playing football with his sons, going bowling, or cheering on the Cleveland Browns.
He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law Robert, Jr. & Melissa Zack of Galion, SGT Christopher & SSG Deborah Zack of Charleston, WV, and Adam & Daisy Zack of Bellville; grandchildren Jacob Zack, Abbygail Zack, Hannah Zack, Tyler Zack, Dakota Zack and Jaxson Oxendale; siblings Barbara & Chuck Johnston of Lexington, Craig & Joann Zack of Mansfield and Linda Hawkins of San Jose, CA.
IN addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Anthony R. Zack.
The Zack family will receive friends Wednesday, September 29, 2010 from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, where his funeral service will follow at 5 p.m. The Rev. Douglas Pretorius will officiate.
Memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association may be made at the funeral home.
