Robert W. Fagan, age 80, of Sunbury died Sunday evening July 6, 2008 at his residence.

He was born on August 16, 1927 in Columbus to the late Francis and Bessie (Darsham) Fagan. He was a WWII US Navy Veteran and a retired engineer with ConRail retiring in 1987 with 38 years of service. Member of UTU Local 0145 and past local chairman for BLOE Lodge 9.

Robert enjoyed gambling and made numerous trips to Las Vegas, Indiana and Nassau, golf and bowling in his spare time. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeye and Cleveland Browns fan.

He is survived by his wife of almost 57 years: Hazel (Markham) Fagan and they were married August 25, 1951 in Columbus; son: Chester (Lydia) Hickey of Kenton; daughter: Deborah (Charles) Guiler of Pataskala; granddaughter: Dawn Armentrout; great grandson: C. J. Armentrout; sisters: Harriett O’Farrell of Columbus, JoEllen (Larry) Hughes of Westerville. Brother-in-law: Chet (Juanita) Markham of Westerville; sisters-in-law: Betty Flesch of Columbus, Sara Saunders of Grove City, Stella (Ron) Icenhower of Gallipolis. Nieces, nephews and cousins.

His is preceded by grandson: Chad Hickey; brother: Francis and Jimmy; sister Marge Weideman.

Friends may call Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR 3 at 61, Sunbury where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Graveside service will be held Thursday 10 a.m. at the Sunbury Memorial Park with Fr. David Sizemore officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Delaware County Veterans Association.
