Robert Savage

February 12, 1958 ‒ November 13, 2019

Butler, Ohio

Robert Wallace Savage, age 61, passed away unexpectedly at work on November 13, 2019.

He was born February 12, 1958, in New Lexington, Ohio to parents Robert Wallace Savage and Violet June (Sorrell) Savage Mayle and he was the 5th of 9 children in the Savage family.

As a young man, a coworker named Kim caught Bob’s eye and the pair married on July 4th, 1992.

Bob worked in maintenance with Ohio Valley Manufacturing for 15 years and took pride in his work. He was a man of many talents who built custom equipment and could fix anything they needed. Bob even created a beautiful showcase table for the lobby out of Ohio Valley stamped metal parts and he was quite proud of how it turned out.

Bob’s pride and joy were his grandbabies. He was a great husband, father, and grandfather with a heart of gold who loved spending time with his family. He built a multi-story playhouse cabin in the woods for the grandkids and loved to take them go-carting and for rides on the golf cart.

One of Bob’s favorite hobbies was drag racing in his 1978 El Camino for point series bracket racing. He also enjoyed flying his drone to take photos of his family and the beautiful Ohio scenery. In spare time, he liked to watch NASCAR and listen to classic rock. His family can still hear him ask “where’s the noodles?” when he sat down to a dinner without his favorite side dish. His sense of humor will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 27 years Kim Savage of Butler; his children Shawnda Savage, Erica Savage, and Joe (Jessica) Hunter; grandchildren Heather, Austin, Jason, Keaton, Kelsea, Phoenix, Savannah and Kayson; siblings Michael Savage, Linda Taylor, Dave Savage, Debbie Jackson, Keith Savage, and April Savage; father-in-law Mordy Hunter (Marge Province); numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends; along with faithful dog companions Rosco and Zoey.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his daughter Amanda Savage, and brothers Tony Savage and Jeff Savage.

His family will receive friends Monday, November 18, 2019, from 2-5 pm at the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home with a service beginning at 5 pm and Pastor Patrick Bailey will officiate. Contributions in Bob’s memory to his family may be made at the funeral home.
