LEXINGTON: Robert S. Taylor, age 78, of Lexington passed away Saturday, January 21, 2012 in Hospice House of Ashland following a four month illness.

He was born January 1, 1934 in Perrysville, the son of Carl Clugh and Clinnie (Darling) Taylor and was graduated from Butler High School in 1952.

A U.S. Army veteran, Robert served nearly two years in the Military District of Washington. During his time there he was privileged to honor his fallen comrades as a member of the honor guard at Arlington National Cemetery.

Robert worked at D.H. Bowman and Sons for a total of 50 years, retiring in 2004.

A former Butler resident, he was loyal to the village. He was a 46-year member of the Butler Lions Club where he served as secretary. He was also active with the Butler Adult Center.

Robert enjoyed vegetable gardening, and woodworking.

He is survived by his wife Julie (Mutchler) Taylor whom he married June 1, 1985, a son Jason E. Stewart of St. Charles, Missouri, a daughter Jennifer Taylor of Mansfield, and two nephews Gary Taylor and Steve and Amy Taylor all of Mansfield.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Corey Stewart in 2005, and a brother Carl Leon Taylor.

Friends may call Tuesday, January 24, 2012 from 6-8 pm in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home where the Butler Lions Club will honor Robert with a remembrance service at 8 pm. The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 am, with visitation the hour prior to the service. The Rev. Marilou Brook will officiate and burial with military honors will follow in Zion Four Corners Cemetery, near Butler.

Memorial contributions to Hospice of North Central Ohio or the Butler Adult Center may be made through the funeral home.
