Robert William McDonough, age 61, of Columbus, formerly of Mount Vernon died Monday January 7, 2002 at his residence in Columbus following a brief illness. Bob was born September 8, 1940 in Mount Vernon to William James McDonough and Rosemary (Murphy) McDonough and had spent most of his lifetime in the Mount Vernon area. He was a graduate of Saint Vincent High School in Mount Vernon and Columbus State University in Columbus. Bob served six years with the Army National Guard. He was a former employee of the Alcove Restaurant in Mount Vernon, and had owned and operated the Carriage Room Restaurant on West High Street in Mount Vernon.

He had been a member of Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Mount Vernon and the Mount Vernon Elks Lodge.

Surviving are his son Brian (Brenda) McDonough of Mount Vernon; two grandsons Cole McDonough and Curtis Hull; his brother Joseph (Trudy) McDonough of Mount Vernon and three sisters Sue (Terry) Steinmetz of Mount Vernon, Ann McDonough of Chicago, and Teri (Roscoe) Scott of Fishers, Indiana.

Friends may call Saturday from Noon to 1:30 PM at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. A mass will be Saturday at 2 PM at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Mount Vernon with Father David Porterfield officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
