Robert Lee “Bob” Diemer

MANSFIELD: Robert Lee “Bob” Diemer peacefully passed away Monday, April 10, 2017 at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus following an extended illness. He was 83.

Bob was born June 29, 1933 in Mansfield to Arthur & M. Hilma (Sweet) Diemer and graduated from Mansfield Senior High. He later earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering from Ohio University. He proudly served his country as a US Marine during the Korean War.

Bob worked as an insurance salesman for Neese-Rockhold Insurance in Mansfield for many years until retiring at age 76.

He enjoyed golfing on local courses. He also was an avid Ohio State fan, followed Cleveland sports teams, and enjoyed visiting with family whenever possible.

Robert was a member of AMVETS Post #26 in Mansfield.

He is survived three daughters and two sons-in-law, Amy and Michael Stevens of Mansfield, Melissa and Erik Zehner of Chicago, Illinois, and Jennifer Morris of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; a son and daughter-in-law Brett and Joanne Diemer of Castroy Valley, California; grandchildren, Tess Stevens, Nicholas Price, Chloe Morris, and Dylan Diemer; siblings Jim (Doris) Diemer, Joe Diemer, Ned Diemer, and Jane (Patrick) Snyder; along with many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his son Rodger Diemer, and sister-in-law Charlotte Diemer.

A graveside service will be held 12 noon, June 17th, 2017 in Mansfield Memorial Park where the Richland County Joint Veteran’s Burial Detail will perform military honors. Celebrant Jerry Wilson will officiate.

  • Always enjoyed the Diemer family interactions and the brothers athletic abilities. I roomed with Bob at Ohio University in the late 1950’s. I always enjoyed his friendship. Gloria was a classmate of mine at Sr. Hi. I last saw Bob at Amvets #26. He was proud to be a Marine….. still is…..
