MANSFIELD: Robert L. Witmer, 89, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2011 in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital.

He was born October 2, 1921 in Ashland the son of Edward and Addie (Crawford) Witmer.

A U.S. Army veteran, Bob served in World War II from March of 1942 until January of 1945. He was stationed in the South Pacific.

On May 26, 1943 he married Florence R. Canfield who survives in Mansfield.

Bob worked for Frito-Lay as a route salesman retiring with 21 years of service in 1986. He also retired from Hursh Drug after delivering medicine for 20 years.

An avid music fan, Bob enjoyed concerts as well as Major League Baseball. He also enjoyed making birdhouses.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Florence Witmer; sister Joanne Bork of Fremont; nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his only child Leonard Wayne Witmer in 1992.

The Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home is serving the family. Interment will be Thursday, October 6, 2011 at 11am in Ashland Cemetery.
