Robert L. Wise

Robert L. Wise, age 58, of Marion, passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2009, at home with his wife and children at his side following a five year battle with cancer.
He was born on September 12, 1950 in Wheeling, West Virginia, the son of the late Robert L. and Grace (Pitzer) Wise.
Robert graduated in 1968 from Brillant High School and went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in Education from Kent State in 1972. While at Kent State, Robert met the love of his life, Laurie Tanner. They married on August 14, 1972, in Cobleskill, New York at Howe’s Caverns. They were the 100th couple to be married there.
He worked as a parts manager for Ford Motor Company for many years. After retiring from Chapman Ford in Marysville, Robert became self-employed remodeling and renovating homes. He also was a substitute teacher for the Marion city schools and Tri-Rivers career center.
Robert was active with his son Evan in Boy Scout troop 26.
He also enjoyed riding dirt bikes with his son Sean in Logan, Ohio.
Robert enjoyed go cart racing at Kartington raceway in Cardington, where he also served as the track manager.
A classic car enthusiast, Robert loved driving his 1980 spitfire and attending car shows with his wife, brother, Rick, and sister-in-law, Linda.
A family oriented man, Robert loved to travel to California to visit his daughter Christie. He also enjoyed spending time boating with his family at their summer home in Marblehead on Lake Erie.
Robert will be dearly missed by his wife, Laurie; daughter, Christie (Marc) DiLorenzo of Sacramento, California, his two sons; Sean (Tiffany) Wise of Reynoldsburg, and Evan Wise of Marion; twin brother, Rick (Linda) Wise of New Philadelphia; sister, Grace (Bob) Kittoe of Alliance; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his good friend Jim Neagles, the other half of the “Dynamic Duo.”
The Wise family will greet friends on Saturday, August 15, 2009, from 9 – 10 a.m. at Marion Cemetery where graveside services will follow at 10 a.m. with Pastor Chuck Zweizig officiating.
