Robert L. “Bob” McCoy, 62, of Mount Gilead died early Thursday morning, June 7, 2007, at the Bennington Glen Nursing Center.

He was born in Sybial, West Virginia, on December 12, 1944, the son of the late Sammy C. and Rosie K. Simmons McCoy.

A construction worker, Bob had worked for many years with the Brown and Keller Construction Company in Mansfield. He had also resided and worked in Texas.

Bob was a member of the AmVets Post 87 and the V.F.W. Post 8054 both in Mount Gilead.

Throughout his life, Bob enjoyed fishing with his family and friends. More recently he had become passionate about woodworking, loving to make many variations of baskets.

He will be missed by his three sons: Bob McCoy of Edison, Phillip (Angie) McCoy of Mount Gilead, and Walter (Ruth) McCoy of Mansfield; a daughter: Kay Frost of Danville; six grandchildren: Christina, Casey, Corey, Katherine, Crystal, and Michelle; one great grandchild and a second pending; a brother: Cecil McCoy Jr. of Kirbyville, Texas; six sisters: Martha Craig of Mansfield, Doris Browning of Perrysville, Drema (Denny) Triacoff of Ashland, Genetta Harris of Mount Gilead, Loretta Williams of Mansfield, and Wanda (Jerry) Baker of Mount Gilead; former wife: Helen McCoy Boyer of Mount Gilead; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Including his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a brother: Earl McCoy; two sisters: Frances McCoy and Bonnie L. Durfee; two brother-in-laws: Don Craig, and Dwight Browning; a sister-in-law: Ruby McCoy; and a favorite niece: Gloria Carver.

The family will greet friends on Monday from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home, 76 S. Main St., Mt. Gilead. Graveside services will follow immediately after visiting hours at the Oak Grove Memorial Park in Lexington with Pastor Jim Lunderman officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
