Robert J. Eastridge

October 02, 1932 ‒ December 13, 2009

Lexington, Ohio

LEXINGTON: In the book of Mark, Jesus called his Disciples saying, “go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation”. God calls men and women alike to serve, share his love, and plant his seeds. Robert Eastridge lived by faith and not only listened but proclaimed his calling and his love for our Lord. Throughout his life Robert planted church after church here in north central Ohio, spreading the “Good News”. Robert fought the good fight and on Sunday December 13, 2009 Robert J. Eastridge finished his race.

Born on October 2, 1932, in Amigo, West Virginia, Robert was one of 11 children to The Rev. D.H. and Ada (Roe) Eastridge.

His father a pastor, Robert was raised in the church and that is where he met his future bride and spiritual partner Geneva Vipperman.

As a young man Robert joined the Army serving during the Korea War Era. He worked at General Motors Ontario Plant where he retired after 30 plus years as inspector of welder maintenance.

It was in 1974 that Robert planted his first church in Crestline, however he soon found that God needed him elsewhere… it was the first of numerous churches planted here in Richland and the surrounding counties. He was a member of Stewart Road Church of God in Mansfield.

Robert loved nature and being outdoors admiring Gods creation. Working the land, he enjoyed watching his bounty grow. As evident in his Christian faith, Robert loved serving others. Second to Christ, his family was his life.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Geneva Eastridge of Lexington; children and their spouses Debra and Michael Lambert of Reynoldsburg, Robert J. and Debra Eastridge of Kings Mountain, North Carolina; Kathy and Bruce Lanker of Johnsville, Rhonda and Darrin Brogan of Mansfield, Steve and Leah Eastridge of Lexington; grandchildren Nathan, Matthew, Jonathon, Jennifer, Jeremy, Bradley, Andrew, Ryan, Amanda, Joshua, Bryan, Brittany, Amber, Chelsea, Alex, Noah, Jacob; great grandchildren Christopher, Ethan, Jackson, Mia, Aiden, Bruce, Leah, Mckinley; brother and sister-in-law David and Patty Eastridge of Mt. Gilead, sisters and brothers-in-law Carrie Collier of Knoxville, Tennessee, Lena and Roger Sears of North Carolina, Judy Smith of Greensboro, North Carolina and Darlene and Ike Mckenney of Beckley, West Virginia, several sisters-in-law and numerous extended family.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings and their spouses Lula and Clell Ray, Ruby and Boyd Graham, Orley Eastridge, Ervin Eastridge, and Marilyn Elizabeth Eastridge.

The Eastridge family will receive friends on Thursday December 17, 2009 from 1-3pm and 5-7pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. The funeral celebrating the life of Robert J.
