Mount Vernon, Ohio

Robert Eugene “Bob” Beck, age 85, of Mount Vernon passed away at his home on Sunday, September 5, 2021.

He was born on August 18, 1936, in Mount Vernon to the late Robert N. and Geneva (Martin) Beck.  Bob was a member of the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ and the Mt. Zion Lodge #9 Free and Accepted Masons, where he was a member for over 62 years.  Bob was a veteran serving in the United States Army Airborne from 1954-1957. He retired from the Ohio Power Company after 40 years of service.  He was always “tinkering” on a project and enjoyed hunting, reading, watching westerns, and finding bargains at garage sales in his spare time.

He is survived by his loving wife, of over 61 years, Marilyn (Wheeler) Beck; his son Robert K. (Linda) Beck; three grandchildren, Rick Bruno, Rachel Beck, Jennifer (Levi) Shoman; and three great granddaughters.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his sister Sandy Reed and his brothers Richard Beck and William Beck.

In keeping with Bob’s wishes, there will be no calling hours.  A graveside service, with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veteran’s Council, will be held in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Friday, September 17, 2021, beginning at 11am.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Knox County Humane Society.
