Robert E. Ziegler
July 28, 1934 ‒ January 03, 2010
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, January 6th at Rodman Neeper Funeral Home, Delaware, for Robert E. “Bob” Ziegler. Bob was 75 years old and a long time resident of Ashley. He had been ill since October. Bob was born July 28, 1934 in Radnor Twp. to Lowell and Florence Evans Ziegler. He had been co-owner, with his wife Louise, of Amy Lou’s / Ashley Video and prior to that he had spent 13 years with Citizens Federal and 13 years with the State Highway Department. He was a member of the Kilbourne United Methodist Church, very active with Habitat for Humanity, volunteering at the ReStore. He volunteered for the Ashley Apple Butter Festival, was a member of and past president of the Prospect Senior Citizens, a member of the Board of Directors for the Ashley Warnstaff Library, and was generally very community oriented. An avid euchre and pinochle player, it gave him great pleasure to trump your ace and expressed exuberance when dealt a “loner”. His laugh was infectious and he will be missed by all who made his acquaintance. He is survived by his wife Louise, whom he married in August of 1955; his daughter Janolyn “Jan” (Ruso) Sanchez of Delaware; grandchildren David Hall, Vanessa and Efren Sivla; a brother Gerald of Marion; several nieces & nephews, including Jim (Mary) Ziegler of North Canton. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Rodney, and brother Howard. Friends will be received after 3:00 PM on Wednesday, January 6th, at the Rodman Neeper Funeral Home, 1510 W. William St., Delaware. The ladies of the Kilbourne United Methodist Church will host a reception in the Rodman Neeper Funeral Home Community Room following the 7PM service. A private committal service will be held in Ashley Union Cemetery. The family encourages contributions to Prospect Senior Citizens, 318 N. Elm St., Prospect, OH 43342; Recreation Unlimited, 7700 Piper Rd., Ashley, Ohio 43003; The Kilbourne United Methodist Church, 3839 Main St., Kilbourne, OH 43032; or Habitat for Humanity, 305 Curtis St., Delaware, OH 43015.
