Robert E. Fowler, age 67, of Johnson Ave. Mount Vernon, died November 30, 2003 at the Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster. He was born October 22, 1936, in Mount Vernon son of the late Joseph “J.H.” and Opal (Bailey) Fowler and had been a lifetime resident of Knox County. He was a member of the South Vernon United Methodist Church and a retired 41 year employee of the General Motors Corp. in Ontario where he had been employed as a tool and die maker. Mr. Fowler was a member of the Moose Lodge in Mt. Vernon and had been active in youth sports here as an avid supporter of the Mt. Vernon Swim Team, a member of the M.V. H. S. Boosters club and had been active in the construction of the football stadium, he had coached girls softball and had served as president of the Phillips Park Little League.

He is survived by his wife of 14 years Judith (Stone) Fowler, daughter Brenda (Tony) Borck of Fredericktown, 2 sons Roger Fowler and Rick (Jackie) Fowler both of Lancaster, step-daughter Sherri Ware of Mount Vernon, step-sons David (Elaine) Ware of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Michael (Jenny) Ware of Fredericktown and James Ware of Mt. Vernon, foster son Paul (Jo Dean) Pagani of Mt. Vernon, 13 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, step-mother Irene Fowler of Mt. Vernon, sister Patricia Stricker of Mt. Vernon, brother George (Jean) Fowler of Gambier step-sisters Phyllis (Bart) Smith, Carol Ann Dial and Ruth Shackle all of Mt. Vernon, step-brothers Jim Laymon of Mt. Vernon, Ron (Candy) Laymon of Fredericktown and Jim (Sandy) Laymon of Mt. Vernon, a half-sister Judy (Bob) Tubb of Florida and a half-brother Dick Laymon of Mt. Vernon. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son Robert,

Friends may call on Wednesday from 5 PM until 7 PM at the Flowers-Snyder funeral home. Funeral services will he held at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 AM. The reverend Gary Campbell will officiate and a private burial will be in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens.
