Robert E. “Cowboy” Hinderlong, age 87 of Delaware died Wednesday, April 27, 2005 at Wintersong Village.

He was born July 1, 1917 in Marengo to the late Charles R. and Carla (Welch) Hinderlong. A lifelong area resident he worked over 35 years as a truck driver for the former Glenwood Range in Delaware. Known as a jokester and true “Cowboy”, he enjoyed Western attire, camping, and dancing at the Eagles. He was a member of the Sunbury Eagles and attended the Christian Life Church in Delaware.

Survived by his Daughter: Edna “Eddie” (Chuck) Lewis of Delaware, Grandchildren: Rocky (Amanda) VanBrimmer, Chucky Lewis, Shelly (Chris) Ward, Michelle (Joe) Graham, Great-grandchildren: Brittany, Jordan, Madison, Kieler, Chaz, Dominic, Murphy, and Step-Brother George Doland of Delaware, special friend and dance partner: Diane Cumston, and friends Steve & Robbi Carney.

Preceded in death by his wife of 24 years Rosemary F. (Bargdill) Hinderlong on May 2, 1982, Sisters: Evangeline Blackledge, Sarah Jane Newell, and 2 infant Brothers, special cousin John Dye.

Friends may call Friday evening 6-8 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St. (SR 36), Delaware. Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday 11:00 a.m., at the Alum Creek Friends Church Cemetery, 3385 SR 229, Ashley, with Rev. Michael A. Wilson officiating.
