Robert E. “Bob” Carson

December 19, 1929 ‒ February 28, 2018

Centerburg, Ohio

Robert E. “Bob” Carson, age 88, of Centerburg went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.

He was born on December 19, 1929 in Columbus, Ohio the son of the late Harry and Delcie (Fellows) Carson.

While roller skating at Roller Land in Columbus, a young lady by the name of Wilma Lindsay caught Bob’s eye.  He even went as far as saying that someday she would be his wife.  They would marry on August 13, 1949. Together they shared over 65 blessed years, caring for each other’s needs, making a loving home, while raising their family.

Bob was a supervisor for traffic engineering for the City of Columbus for 28 years and was a member of Genoa Baptist Church.

He loved playing euchre and as a younger man, going hunting with his sons, playing softball, and bowling.  Most importantly family was his world.  He’d tell anybody that would listen about the number of children and grandchildren he had and how long he and Wilma were married.

He will be missed by his children Saundra Schneider of Massillon, Paul (Cynthia) Carson of Upper Arlington, Kit (Becky) Carson of South Vienna, Penny (George) Blakesley, Cindy (Steve) Clark both of Centerburg, Robin (Todd) Shepherd of Marengo; 46 grand and great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma on March 15, 2015; and his siblings William James Carson, Evelyn Holycross, Louise Walker, and Ed, Paul, and Jack Carson.

Friends may call on the family on Monday, March 5, 2018 from 4-8 PM at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 637 North State Route 61, Sunbury, Ohio 43074.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10 AM at Genoa Baptist Church, 7562 Lewis Center Rd, Westerville, OH 43082.  Burial to follow at Marengo Cemetery.
