Robert Culver Zimmer, age 90, of Columbus, Ohio, and formerly of Delaware, Ohio and Fort Wayne, Indiana, died on February 8, 2015.

He was born on April 11, 1924 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Ford and Tressa (Culver) Zimmer.   He was educated at South Side High School in Fort Wayne, graduated from DePauw University and the Ohio State University with a Masters in English Literature.  He served his country honorably in the United States Army during World War II in France, England and Germany.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years Ethel (Ford). They had two children, Robert (deceased) and Teri (Jim) Parker of Columbus.  Grandchildren are Susan Strick and Lesley (Jon) Cross; Great-grandchildren are Jordan and Jillian Cross all of Worthington, Ohio.

Robert retired after thirty years from the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce as the Vice-President of Administration. Always a servant leader, he was an active member of the Columbus and Delaware Kiwanis Clubs, William Street United Methodist Church, The Delaware Shakespeare Club, and was an honorary life member of the Grady Memorial Hospital volunteer program.  He and his wife traveled to 48 states and enjoyed many cruises to Europe, Scandinavia and the Caribbean.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at William Street United Methodist Church, 28 W. William Street, Delaware, Ohio with Pastor Julie Carmean officiating. Arrangements entrusted to the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home in Delaware.

Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to a charity of choice or the William Street United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.

Inurnment with military honors will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date.
