Robert “Bob” E. Beal

Robert “Bob” E. Beal, age 65, of Cortland, Ohio, died Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at Mahoning Valley Hospital, Trumbull Campus, following a courageous battle with Melanoma Cancer.
He was born on March 8, 1945 in Mansfield, a son of the late Rollin Russell Beal and the late Mary Robinson Beal.
Bob was a 1963 graduate of Bellville High and continued his education for two more years at the North Central Tech College.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served 4 years during the Vietnam War and 32 years in the Air Force Reserve.
He was a member of the Church of Christ and retired from the Youngstown Air Base in 2004 where he had worked as an Avionics Technician.
Bob enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, gardening, hiking, bird watching and planting flowers. He also enjoyed reading and attending the Cleveland Indians Baseball games. Bob will best be remembered as a “family man” who loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Cecelia “Claudette” Cottrille Beal, whom he married on May 16, 1970; son, Eric (Valerie Spitaler) Beal of Poland, OH, daughter, Erin (Wayne) Welch of Havre de Grace, MD, two brothers, Jim (Teresa) Beal of Bellville, and Richard (Laura) Beal of Galion, and a sister, Carol (Jim) Hoeflich of Mansfield. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Charlotte Welch, Emily Beal and Madeleine Beal and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Natalie Rose.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 18, 2010 from 4 – 6 pm in the Shafer-Winans Funeral Chapel in Cortland, OH, where the funeral service will be held at 6 pm.
The family will again receive friends on Sunday, June 20, 2010 from 2 – 4 pm in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held Monday at 11 am in Bellville Cemetery.
