Robert Baer, age 71, of Delaware passed away late Wednesday night in The James Cancer Hospital at Ohio State University. He was born May 21, 1935 in Dearborn County, IN to Raymond and Minnie Baer. He graduated from Purdue University in 1957 with a degree in mechanical engineering. That same year he went to work for American Electric Power and retired after nearly 40 years of service. He had been a resident of Delaware since 1981 and attended Ashley United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting and golfing, waterskiing and archery, and especially his 1968 candy apple red Mustang. He is survived by Nancy, his wife of 46 years; a son Mike (Trez); daughters Kimberly Baer (Blaine Waderker) and Gail (Mark) Jackson; 5 grandchildren Katie, Tony and Mia Baer and Travis and Mandy Jackson; a sister Rosemary Kurita of Oakland, CA; and 3 brothers Raymond “Dutch” (Jackie) Baer, Jim (Janet) Baer and Vic (Aileen) Baer, all of Aurora, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Tina Marie Baer in 1997, and a brother Ted in 2004. Friends will be received on Saturday from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at the Rodman Neeper Bennett Brown Funeral Home, Ashley where services will be held Sunday at 2:00 PM with Rev. John Ruiz of the Ashley United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Ashley Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1105 Mt.
