Mansfield, Ohio

MANSFIELD: Robert A. Hiles, age 52, of Mansfield passed away Monday, December 31, 2018 in Orrville Pointe Nursing Home.

He was born July 9, 1966 in Mansfield to parents Robert T. Hiles and Ursula (Denning) Hiles Holland. He graduated from Madison High School with the class of 1985. While working as a mechanic, a beautiful young lady named Ami DeWeese caught his eye when she came to get her car fixed. Robert and Ami were married on March 15, 1997.

Hiles was a former co-owner of Shag-A-Lee’s bar & grill on Ashland Road along with his brother and he made many long-time friends there. Anyone who knew Hiles knew he loved his Harley Davidson. He was a devoted Michigan fan, loved to golf, but most of all loved spending time with his family and will be dearly missed.

Robert spent the last 7 years of his life in a care facility due to injuries sustained from a motorcycle accident. Ami and Kera would like to thank the nursing staff and all of his friends who had supported him throughout the years.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years Ami Hiles of Mansfield; daughter Kera Hiles; stepbrother Rob “Boog” Harris (Jen); his brother-in-law Brent DeWeese; sister-in-law Shannon (Tony) Malec; mother-in-law Marlene DeWeese; nieces and nephews Cory and Carli Malec, Kayleigh DeWeese, and Hunter and Bella Harris; along with many special friends.

Hiles was preceded in death by his father Robert T. Hiles, mother Ursula H. Holland, and father-in-law Herb DeWeese.

Robert’s urn will be buried in Little Washington Cemetery at 12 noon on Friday, January 11, 2019, and the graveside service will be officiated by Certified Celebrant Jerry Wilson.
