Ricky S. Knapp II, age 31 of Marengo died unexpectedly at home Friday, April 17, 2009.

He was born on March 24, 1978 in Columbus, attended Highland High School and was a lifelong resident of the Marengo area. Diagnosed with muscular dystrophy at the age of 5, he was a fighter and survivor, always in pain, he never complained.

A lifelong race car enthusiast, he was both a driver and mechanic. Member of the NHRA and Pacemaker Speedway in Mt. Vernon, he was happiest with his son, dogs, and at the racetrack. At time a flirt and always in a good mood, because of his smile, he became known as “Pretty Ricky”, as shown in his license plate “Prty Ricky”.

He is survived by his son: Logan, parents: Ricky S. Knapp of Ashville, Sabrina (Bartram) & John Salazar of Marengo, Grandparents: Linda Knapp of Marengo, Homer and Gladys Bartram of Marengo, aunts, uncles, special cousins including: Marcie (Dave Kelley) Fisher, Randy “Biggin” Bartram, Christa “Lynard” Bartram, close and supportive friends: Ed Dowalter, Buddy Salyors, canine companions: Rosco, Felony, Magnum, and numerous other friends.

Friends may call Tuesday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR 229, in Marengo where services will follow Wednesday 10:00 a.m. with Gary Kent officiating, burial will follow in Marengo Cemetery.
