Richard W. Carlin

Richard W. Carlin, 68, of 9725 Ketterman Drive, Galion, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006 at home after an extended illness.
Born Oct. 11, 1938 in Galion, he was the son of the late William Carlin and Wanita Shaffer Carlin. He married E. Louise Binggeli Carlin on June 9, 1958 and she survives.
He was a very loving, caring and giving person and liked helping others. He served in the
U. S. Marine Corps from 1956 to 1958. He retired from Peabody-Galion/McClain Industries after 37 years, where he worked in the Maintenance Department. He was a volunteer fireman with the Iberia Volunteer Fire Department and served as Assistant Fire Chief. He always liked to keep busy. He loved woodworking as well as participating in softball, golf and bowling, fishing, hunting and traveling. He was a dedicated Cleveland Browns fan.
Also surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Vicky and John Fox of Galion, Valerie and Dennis Baer of Galion and Velma and John Messenger of Mansfield; seven grandchildren, Tim, Nick and Mandy Fox, Josh and Natalie Baer, Tiffany Scott and Taylor Dickerson; one great granddaughter, Shelby Baer; one sister, Phyllis Farley of Iberia; one brother Gerald Carlin of Galion and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2006 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home where services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, with Rev. Charles E. Brooks officiating. Burial will follow at Iberia Cemetery where military graveside services will be conducted by the U. S. Marine Corps and the Galion/Crestline veterans organizations.
