Richard “Rick” Eaton

November 05, 1950 ‒ November 30, 2015

Mansfield, Ohio

Richard “Rick” Eaton went to be with the Lord Monday evening, November 30, 2015 in Ohio Health MedCentral Mansfield Hospital surrounded by his family. He was 65.

He was born November 5, 1950 in Mansfield to parent’s Howard and Alice (Sprague) Eaton. After he graduated from Madison High School, he worked as a mechanic for several years until most recently retiring from Sprint after 10 years in 2002.

For 20 years Rick coached little league softball and baseball in Madison and played a role in the creation of the Madison Girls Softball Firefighters field. He also took great pleasure in traveling to swap meets and flea markets with his parents throughout the years selling Model T and Model A parts. Most recently though he could be found “piddling” around his work shop.

Above all, Rick truly enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was always in charge of making sure family events were a great time, and being the family man that he was, he still called his daughters and mother every day to check in on them. His daily calls will truly be missed.

He is survived by his loving wife of 11 years Donna Eaton; daughters Kristy (Scott) Harrison, Amy Eaton, and Heather (Jeff) Kahl; Stepsons Michael (Michelle) Mosier, and Tim Mosier; grandchildren Shelby Harrison, Makayla Eaton, Lily Kahl, Lena Kahl, Austin Mosier, and Piper Mosier; mother Alice Eaton; siblings Jerri Henry, Terry (Rita) Eaton, Bobby (Tammy) Eaton and numerous nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his father Howard W. Eaton.

His family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Thursday, December 3, 2015 in the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, Finefrock Chapel, with a funeral service on Friday at 10 a.m. Joel Headley will be officiating with a burial to follow at Mansfield Memorial Park.

Contributions in his memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital may be made at the funeral home.

  • Donna and family.
We were shocked to hear of Rick passing. We just heard. One of the problems of getting older is you lose too many friends. We are in Weatherford Texas on our way to Tucson Arizona so we couldn’t be there for you. I enjoyed working with Rick and you over the years. Our prayers and thoughts will be with you and your family during your time of sorrow. Again, so very sorry for your loss.
