Richard M. Sharrock passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, April 25 after a 14-month battle with cancer. He was born on April 26, 1940 in Galion, Ohio to Donald M. and Ethel (McKinney) Sharrock. A lifelong resident of Galion, he graduated from Galion High School in 1959. He served his country in the Air National Guard and spent four decades working at North Electric, ITT, Varo Engineering and PECO II before retiring in 2000. On May 7, 1966, he married the former Linda Post.

In addition to his wife, Linda, he is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Krystal Sharrock (New Albany, Ohio); daughter and son-in-law Erin and Joe White (Gahanna, Ohio); grandchildren Evan (Kari), Jarod and Kendall White and Landry and Maggie Sharrock; brother, Donald G. Sharrock (Mesquite, Texas); nephews Richard and Thomas Sharrock (Dallas, Texas); grand-nephew Mitchell Sharrock and grand-niece Morgan Sharrock. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Robert Sharrock and George Ehrman.

Rich was actively involved for many years in local community activities and school events. In his later years, he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and watching his grandchildren’s sporting and musical events. He and Linda spent many weekends attending car shows around the state with their vintage ’65 Mustang and ’67 Camaro, winning trophies and making great friends along the way.

A celebration of his life with family and friends will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 5, 2021 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 746 Cherry Street, Galion, Ohio  44833. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation (200 W. Nationwide Blvd., Columbus, OH 43215) to support its fight against pediatric cancer.
